To be honest I hadn't noticed the snakes. To complete the census: one dog, one cat, one spider, one shark, one cow (I think), one girl smoking, four geese, and one canned ham.
As someone phobic of snakes, I can’t believe how many snake-related covers there were!! Will have a look at this soon as I’m done with my current batch of books. Am making my way through a William Maxwell, per your recommendations. :)
