I loved Hello Beautiful but the logistics of the setting drove me nuts! I live in Chicago and the sisters’ neighborhood isn’t easy to get to from Evanston on public transportation the way they do effortlessly in the book lol
David, have you read The Makioka Sisters? It's gorgeous, each sister artfully drawn, the English translation is sensitive and elegant. I rarely invest the time to read any book more than once just for pleasure. This is one of my few exceptions.
I started it twenty-some years ago, but drifted away. I think it's time to have another go. So much to read! I just finished my ninth Trollope, which will free up a hunk of reading time. Thanks for responding!
Interesting list, David. Thanks. I immediately thought of Joan Chase's During the Reign of the Queen of Persia, although those are four girl cousins, not sisters. Written in the relatively rare first person plural. Effect use of that voice, though I usually think of it as just a gimmick. I loved Kingsolver's Poisonwood Bible. It's her masterpiece, in my opinion.

I’ve read everything Kingsolver…didn’t love all of them. Flight Behavior is remarkable.
Thanks. I'll check it out.
