Some years ago, there was a Library Association program that focused on the literature of various regions; I did the write-up and master reading list for the Midwest episode, which is where I ran into Arnow's name. She seems to have upwards of ten books, but the one you always see is THE DOLLMAKER. I should probably get around to reading it . . . especially since one of the sub-themes of this Substack is reading neglected/forgotten works of fiction. Thanks for commenting. How about passing this Substack around to others in your posse?
I had Jack Cody for some fiction classes back in the day, and he spoke of Harriet Arnow with deep affection.

will do but me posse is most limited, one being a springer who refuses to read.
