Interesting that you say cricket isn’t too hard to get into! The common consensus among Australians (those who don’t religiously watch the sport, that is) is that it’s incredibly boring for spectators. Sounds like a good trip and good to have you back!!

Thank you kindly. From what I saw, the Aussies are mad for cricket, but then lots of sports are boring to non-fans. One difference between cricket and baseball is that there's no foul territory in cricket, meaning that the ball/bat collision happens in the middle of the pitch, and no one is very close--you have to have good eyes, a knowledge of what you're seeing, and a passion for the sport's history/traditions/etc. As for me, it held my attention and I was happy to be there. But what I'm really waiting for is the Women's World Cup which starts in a week--coming from Aussie and Kiwi lands.

Always interesting to hear about other people’s sporting interests. My personal view is that cricket is not good for watching, but good for playing! Have also redeveloped my love for AFL (a football sport not too dissimilar from American football) since my relocation to Melbourne. Can’t say that I’m super into the soccer, but I am vaguely aware of all the promotional material for the World Cup around me. ⚽️
